Our Experience
We had fun playing Dragon Realm at Mile High Escape Ops and recommend it with a Fun Factor of 7.
This rating reflects a room that delivers a clean, puzzle-forward experience with a playful fantasy theme, a good variety of challenges, and some clever use of props and physical interaction. The designers clearly made smart use of their resources and created several memorable moments along the way — including a couple of genuinely surprising props that we didn’t expect in a room at this price point.
The story is light, fun and easy to follow: you’re training your magical abilities in order to defeat a dragon and lift the curse on the realm. The narrative mostly serves as a consistent through-story backdrop for the puzzles – and the fantasy setting works well and keeps the adventure accessible and fun for families.
The room unfolds through a series of magic-themed challenges that ask players to interpret clues, manipulate props, and collaborate with teammates. We encountered a nice mix of puzzle types, including logic puzzles, pattern recognition, physical interaction with props, and a few creative magical-themed mechanics.
Puzzle Variety
One of the strengths of Dragon Realm is its variety of puzzle styles — including a couple we hadn’t seen done in that way before.
Over the course of the game you’ll encounter nusch of what you would expect in a fantasy magic world -- spellbooks, potions, magical artifacts, and some interactive challenges that encourage players to lean into the theme and work together in fun ways.
Most of the puzzles fall into the basic-to-intermediate difficulty range, making the room approachable for newer players or mixed-experience groups. However, there are a few moments that step up the challenge level in fun ways, including one particular puzzle that created a playful and memorable moment for our team.
While most puzzles flow naturally from one to the next, there was one challenge where we wished the cluing had been a bit clearer as we were approaching it from an alternate, but plausible path. Our requests for hints were thoughtfully and gently delivered.
Set Design and Atmosphere
Dragon Realm doesn’t rely on massive budgets or cinematic spectacle, but it still delivers several charming fantasy set pieces and props that help sell the theme — including one that honestly felt like something you might expect to see in a much larger production.
There are a number of nicely designed elements — magical artifacts, dragon imagery, and themed puzzles — that give the room personality. It’s a good reminder that thoughtful design and creative ideas can create a fun environment even without elaborate special effects.
Who Will Enjoy This Room
Dragon Realm is a fun recommended escape room for all levels of escape room enthusiasts and is particularly well suited for:
• Families with kids
• Beginner to intermediate escape room players
• Groups looking for a lighthearted fantasy adventure
Although we recommend 2–4 players for puzzle flow, the room can also work well for larger groups of kids, since many of the puzzles allow multiple people to participate at the same time.
Final Thoughts
Dragon Realm is a fun, approachable fantasy escape room with generally clean puzzle design, playful moments, and a good mix of challenges.
We also appreciated the great customer service and the warm, friendly welcome we received from the team at Mile High Escape Ops. Parking is easy in the large lot right in front of the location.
