We had a lot of fun playing Experiment C-73 at Conundrum Escape Rooms in the Denver area and recommend it with a Fun Factor of 8. That rating reflects genuine collaboration, clever coordination challenges, a content-heavy volume and variety of puzzles, and the way those puzzles feel organically tied to the psychology-experiment theme — along with a dose of subtly well-placed humor.

Theme & Setting

Experiment C-73 places your team inside a 1970s psychological research facility, where the “tests” aren’t props — they are the puzzles. Rorschach-style inkblots, mirror tracing concepts, color challenges, coordination tasks, and multiple collaboration experiments are all framed as part of the research.

This gives the room a cohesive narrative wrapper. You aren’t simply opening locks — you’re participating in the experiment. And yes, sometimes the experiment pushes back.

Gameplay & Puzzle Style

This is a puzzle-forward, team-centric room with a heavy emphasis on cooperation, communication, and coordination — often between players who can’t see what the others are seeing. We enjoyed the game flow and high tactile nature of many of the puzzles. There were only brief moments where the mechanics bottlenecked slightly for puzzles best handled by only two players. For the most part everyone was engaged and actively solving or exploring.

Cooperation puzzles aren’t everyone’s favorite, but we enjoy them because they actively engage more of the group. Here, Conundrum Escape Rooms delivers a thoughtful variety of collaborative challenges.

Groups begin split between spaces, but we felt Conundrum struck the right balance. Each area offers meaningful engagement, yet similar experiences and puzzles and the full team reunites relatively quickly. We don’t love rooms that separate teams for extended stretches, and that wasn’t the case here.

As noted on their website, at least one player will need to crouch or crawl.  Since I am somewhat (although others might disagree with “somewhat”) colorblind, I am sensitive when there are color-based puzzles…as is the case here so keep that in mind.

Notable puzzle styles (spoiler-free):

  • Shared visual matching

  • Physical coordination mechanics

  • Instruction interpretation (read carefully…)

  • Rich teamwork dynamics

One standout moment involved a coordination challenge that was both physically engaging and cleverly constructed. Once we found our rhythm, it felt extremely satisfying. Let’s just say timing matters.

Another highlight: the psychological theme truly drives the gameplay. The puzzles don’t feel randomly inserted — they belong in the world of the experiment. And yes…some tests are obvious, and others are subtle…Hypothetically speaking.

Difficulty & Team Size

We would classify the difficulty as Intermediate, with some moments edging toward more advanced depending on your team’s communication style.

The room books from 4 to 10 players. We believe the sweet spot for maximum fun is 4 to 6 players. It can be played with fewer (we played with three), but their website advises calling ahead for smaller groups.

Closing Thoughts

Experiment C-73 delivers an entertaining, brainy experience with thoughtful integration between theme and mechanics. The constant need to communicate, coordinate, and interpret each other’s actions creates tension — in a good way — rather than frustration.

With a Fun Factor of 8, this is a room puzzle lovers should consider — especially if you enjoyed Conundrum’s Scrooge: The Search for the Holiday Spirit and are looking for more clever design from the same company.

If you play Experiment C-73, please let them know you saw a Fun Factor Escape Room Review… and drop us a note — we always love hearing about your experiences.

…until next time — keep escaping, push the right buttons (and maybe reread the instructions)… and have fun!
