We had fun playing Warlocked at Quest Room’ Redondo Beach location and highly recommend it! We gave this a Fun Factor of 8 for its highly engaging content, an abundance of puzzles, an immersive hint system and a compelling storyline with puzzles that help drive the story. We found the game flow to be well-paced, with logical progression between puzzles and a steady sense of discovery. The transitions between different spaces helped maintain momentum and engagement throughout. We were very busy and engaged throughout.
Team size and mobility considerations may affect your experience, so here are a few things to keep in mind before booking.
This room accommodates groups of two to eight players. While it is technically playable with two, we recommend a group of at least four to fully engage with the non-linear structure and the volume of content. The initial space may feel a bit tight for larger groups, but the playable area expands as the game progresses.
Quest Room has thoughtfully designed this room with scalable content. While some puzzles are essential for progressing through the story and space, others are optional and add variety. This design allowed our team of two to experience the complete narrative, while still leaving plenty of puzzle-solving opportunities for larger groups.
There is one section that requires a team member to crawl through a confined space, which may be challenging for those with physical limitations or claustrophobia. Quest Room has indicated that they can offer an alternative path for groups who prefer to avoid this element.
We’d rate the overall difficulty of this room as Intermediate. Some puzzles are more traditional in nature, while others involve physical coordination and patience. This variety gives players the chance to engage with the types of challenges they most enjoy.
Part of the expansive set of Warlocked!
Are you outside of the Wizard’s castle
…or inside a shopping Mall?
The set design is cohesive and thoughtfully constructed, with atmospheric lighting and tactile props that reinforce the fantasy theme. While not overly elaborate, the space feels immersive and supports the story effectively making us completely forget we are in a shopping mall!
The story follows a familiar magical-wizard-fantasy theme, but with Quest Room’s own twist. You begin by seeking shelter in a curious house and soon find yourself drawn into helping a wizard protect their magical realm. Puzzle design incorporates a wide range of both physical and mental problem-solving techniques, keeping the experience dynamic and varied.
We especially appreciated the hint system, which moves away from the standard walkie-talkie or monitor-based formats. In this room, help comes from a charming owl companion—whose name, incidentally, is also a puzzle to solve. The owl adds fun personality to the game and provides both helpful nudges and in-world flavor without breaking immersion. A system like this requires the full-time and steady commitment of our game host - our game host was magnificent.
Lots of Details to explore
The set is engaging for a larger group.
At one point in the game, players will interact briefly with a live actor. The performance is low-pressure and integrated smoothly into the narrative and puzzles. While we recognize that some players prefer not to encounter actors, the involvement here is minimal, not intimidating, and added to the immersive quality of the experience.
This experience is well-suited for groups that enjoy a balance of mental and light physical challenges, and who appreciate immersive storytelling. It’s a good fit for players with a moderate amount of escape room experience, especially those who like fantasy themes and interactive elements. Teams that enjoy character-driven hint systems or are curious about rooms with live actors—but want something low-key—will likely find this room rewarding.
Getting There
Quest Room’s Redondo Beach location is housed inside the South Bay Galleria Mall, offering the convenience of free and plentiful parking. The escape room is located on the upper level of the mall, so allow a few extra minutes to find your way, especially if it's your first visit.
Note that restrooms are not located within the escape room facility but are part of the mall’s shared amenities, positioned in a different section of the complex. We recommend planning ahead and allowing a little buffer time before your scheduled game start.
