Our Experience
We had a fun time playing Steampunk Train at Mind Twist Escape Experience in Las Vegas, and we recommend it with a Fun Factor of 7. That rating reflects a striking steampunk-themed set and an assortment of puzzles that blend scavenging skills and pattern detection with out-of-the-box thinking.
When an escape room company puts up a steampunk premise, the visual expectations rise — and Mind Twist delivers. The space is filled with brass-toned machinery, goggles, riveted metal panels, valves, gauges, and vintage industrial props that anchor the experience firmly in the genre. The environment feels authentically crafted, cohesive, and thoughtfully adorned without tipping into clutter.
We found the difficulty of this room to lean firmly toward the advanced side. Several puzzles required nuanced exploration of the set, detailed observation, and layered logic that goes beyond what we typically encounter at this difficulty level. We enjoy tough puzzles when they are fair, and the puzzles here were indeed fair — though many hinged on keen detection and careful scavenging. A few moments had us stuck simply because we weren’t yet sure where to focus our efforts.
An authentically decorated steampunk set will naturally trend toward density, with period pieces and inventive contraptions filling the space. Because there are so many intriguing objects to touch, examine, and manipulate, orienting yourself at the start can feel a bit daunting. Most of the hints we requested were simply to redirect our focus. Once focused, the solves were satisfying and consistent with the room’s internal logic. Some puzzles were multi-layered, where attention to detail mattered — which we feel elevates the difficulty but also increases the fun for players who like their puzzles with a twist of complexity.

This is primarily a one-room experience, but it didn’t feel limited. The environment contains multiple compartments and interactive elements that gradually open up, giving the impression of movement through various areas while keeping gameplay anchored in a single space. We don’t require multiple rooms to have a great time — what matters is meaningful content, varied puzzle styles, and creative design. Steampunk Train checks those boxes.
Location & Practical Notes
Mind Twist is located inside the Fashion Show Mall on the Las Vegas Strip. This was our first visit, and we appreciated the clarity of their booking-confirmation directions:
“…look for the Macy’s Men’s on the ground floor. Once you’re in that area, you can find us right in between the Hello Kitty Cafe and the Urban Outfitters, just past the escalators and down the hall….”
One practical note: our game ended after mall closing hours, and the only exit available was at the far end of the building. Plan for a longer walk back to your car if you’re playing a late session.
